Harvest of sweet culture began in Novoaleksandrovsky, Izobilnensky and Trunovsky districts. Local agricultural producers dug up about 6.5 thousand tons of root crops from an area of 150 hectares.
“More than 30 farms in five districts are engaged in the production of SUGAR beets in the Stavropol Territory. This year they have sown 29 thousand hectares of crops against 26 thousand hectares last year. The largest areas under sugar beet are involved in the Novoaleksandrovsky district - 9.9 thousand hectares and in the Izobilnensky district - 7.8 thousand hectares, - said Elena Tambovtseva, HEAD of the crop production department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
After August 25, the Krasnogvardeisky and Kochubeevsky districts will join the sugar beet harvest. In the latter, significant areas are also sown for sweet culture - 7.7 thousand hectares.
The processing of root crops in the Stavropol Territory is carried out by Stavropolsakhar JSC in the Izobilnensky District. This year it will open its 53rd production season. But before the moment the raw material arrives at the plant, the laboratory workers of the sugar beet plant will evaluate it.
“Agricultural enterprises have just started digging, but already according to the samples that we have studied, we can say that the region will get a good harvest this year. The weight of root crops is 500-600 g, the sugar content is 15% on average, which is a good indicator for starting sugar beet harvesting,” said the head of the laboratory, Fatmet Tkhakhakho.
In the Izobilnensky district, the first to start digging root crops were Agrosakhar LLC and SPK Egorlyksky LLC, in the Trunovsky District - in Meliorator SPK LLC, in the Novoaleksandrovsky District - in the SPA KOLKHOZ im. Voroshilov.
