Stavropol is among the leaders in the production of greenhouse vegetables

The production of vegetable products in the greenhouses of the region is actively developing, increasing the competitiveness of the Stavropol region in this direction of the agro-industrial complex among other regions of the country.
Year-round production of fresh vegetables in the region is provided by 10 greenhouse complexes in the Kirov, Izobilnensky, Predgorny and Andropov districts. The total area under greenhouse vegetables in the Stavropol Territory in 2021 amounted to 248.7 hectares, of which: 216.8 hectares of year-round production, 31.9 hectares of spring greenhouses.
At the end of 2021, they produced 100.5 thousand tons of vegetable products, which put the Stavropol Territory in 4th place in the production of greenhouse vegetables in the Russian Federation.
Since the beginning of this year, more than 5,000 tons of vegetables have been harvested in the region's greenhouses. Most of all, tomatoes (5.4 thousand tons), cucumbers (386 tons) are in second place, as well as almost 36 tons of other vegetable products: leaf lettuce, zucchini, eggplant and others.
The stable development of vegetable growing is possible due to the existing measures of state support. In particular, agricultural producers in the region will be able to receive a subsidy to reimburse part of the cost of producing greenhouse vegetables produced using additional lighting technology. For these purposes, more than 20.6 million rubles were allocated from the consolidated budget.
The leaders in their production are Solnechny Dar LLC of the Izobilnensky District, Stavropol Vegetables LLC and Eco Culture LLC of the Kirov District.
“The production of vegetables in protected ground allows us to provide the residents of the region with fresh vegetable products during the off-season,” said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
At the enterprises of Maryinsky LLC in the Kirov District and Nezhenskoye CJSC in the Piedmont District, vegetable crops are currently being replanted, that is, old plants are being eliminated and new ones are being planted.
