March 16, 2022 within the framework of the specialized exhibition “Meat industry. Chicken King. Refrigeration industry for the agro-industrial complex/ Meat and Poultry Industry Russia and VIV 2022” and the summit “Agrarian policy of Russia: safety and quality of products”, specialists of the Federal Center for Animal Health, subordinated to Rosselkhoznadzor, took part in the round table “Development of poultry and livestock in the context safety and quality of products, health of farm animals and export potential of the Russian Federation”.
Leading veterinarian of the FGBI “ARRIAH” P.V. Prutnikov presented information on the current epizootic situation with regard to economically significant and especially dangerous diseases of cattle in the Russian Federation. In particular, the geography of distribution of infectious nodular bovine dermatitis, sheep and goat pox, and plague of small ruminants was considered in detail. In the course of the report, special attention was paid to the specifics of sampling during laboratory research using various methods. The main errors in the selection, storage and transportation are considered. The importance of following all the recommendations that contribute to increasing the reliability of the results of laboratory tests was noted.
Head of the Laboratory of Epizootology and Monitoring, FGBI “ARRIAH”, Ph.D. M.S. Volkov made a report on the current epizootic situation with highly pathogenic avian influenza, noting that the current epizootic situation and the current sanctions policy make the issue of vaccination against avian influenza particularly acute. The problematic issues of vaccination of highly pathogenic influenza in the conditions of industrial poultry farming were voiced. In connection with the priority on the country's food security, the issue of preserving the livestock of parent flocks of birds for agricultural purposes in the context of an epizootic is of particular relevance.
Head of the reference laboratory for African swine fever FGBI "ARRIAH", Ph.D. A.S. Igolkin spoke about the epizootic situation and the risks of introducing African swine fever (ASF) to pig-breeding enterprises, presented the statistics of active outbreaks and the dynamics of ASF registration in household plots and pig-breeding complexes in the Russian Federation by years. The FGBI “ARRIAH” specialist considered the risk factors for the spread and causes of outbreaks of ASF at large pig breeding enterprises. The importance of compliance with the full range of measures and sanitary and protective measures at the enterprise, a general increase in the level of awareness on the prevention of ASF was noted.
Senior Researcher of FGBI “ARRIAH” D.A. Biryuchenkov paid attention to topical issues of vaccine prevention of pig diseases, as well as the causes of the spread of respiratory bacterial infections. Of particular interest was the discussion of the problem of antibiotic resistance of bacteria and ways to solve it. There is a strong tendency to complicate the control of bacterial diseases due to complete or partial resistance to the action of antimicrobials. YES. Biryuchenkov singled out the main ways to solve the problem of antibiotic resistance in pig breeding - the main link in the system of measures for the control and general prevention of bacterial infections in pigs is specific prevention, as well as an increase in the overall level of biosecurity, as the main tool for preventing the introduction and spread of infections.
