Sowing of spring grain crops in the Lipetsk region is coming to an end

The sowing of spring wheat is completed. The area under it this year increased to almost 230 thousand hectares. More than 20 thousand hectares have been sown with peas. Barley is planted on 170 thousand hectares (97%).
Under all these agricultural crops, the area has been expanded this year. Lupine and oats are sown on 6 thousand and 2 thousand hectares, respectively. Corn for grain is sown in 16 districts. Moreover, in some areas, sowing is either nearing completion or has already been completed, in others, work has just begun. At the moment, corn for grain is placed on 38 thousand hectares.
About 115 thousand hectares are allocated for sugar beet in 2023. As of May 15, more than 106 thousand hectares have been sown with it.
Sowing of oilseeds traditionally begins at different times: almost 49 thousand hectares (102%) have already been sown with rapeseed, 156 thousand hectares (82%) with sunflower, and more than 67 thousand hectares (52%) with soybeans.
Lipetsk farmers also continue to sow corn for silage and annual grasses. Works on these crops are completed by 51% and 65%, respectively.
Potatoes are planted on 73% of the area. Outdoor vegetables are planted in 6 districts. This is mainly table beets and carrots .
The total sown area under agricultural crops in the Lipetsk region in 2023 will be 1.4 million hectares.
