In RUSSIA, the harvesting of the main cereal crops is being completed. In particular, as of November 17, 1.037 million tons of buckwheat were harvested, which is 66 thousand tons more than the figure for the same date last year. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, this year the gross crop harvest will exceed the level of 2020 and fully ensure the loading of processing enterprises.
This year, the sown area under the crop was increased by 12.1% - up to 975.9 thousand hectares, which made it possible to obtain a stable harvest even under adverse weather conditions. Buckwheat is grown in 49 subjects of Russia. The leading regions, which account for about 75% of the gross harvest, include the Altai Territory, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Kursk, Voronezh and Oryol regions.
Currently, buckwheat production in Russia fully covers the needs of the domestic market. The Ministry of Agriculture is carrying out systematic work aimed at expanding the sown area, introducing modern technologies, increasing the volume of mineral fertilizers and using highly productive seeds. These and other measures contribute to the growth of cereal production and form a significant raw material base for the processing industry.
