In the Lipetsk region, the preparation of SUGAR factories for the processing season of sugar beets of the 2021 harvest is in full swing.
Over the first half of this year, more than 550 million rubles were invested in the region's sugar industry. Equipment was updated at six sugar factories, including diffusion and vacuum machines. The thermal power plant was reconstructed, warehouses for storing sugar and molasses were built. This year, the enterprises of the region plan to process more than 4 million tons of sugar beet of the new crop.

At the end of the year, the region took first place in RUSSIA both in sugar production and in sugar output from sugar beets.
“The region is fully self-sufficient in these products,” said Oleg Dolgikh, HEAD of the regional department of agriculture. – Sugar production exceeds its domestic consumption by an average of 15 times. Excess sweet products are exported outside the region, including exported.”
In 2021, the area under sugar beet in the region increased by 18%. The start of the processing season is scheduled for the second decade of August.
