Rostelecom and the Republican Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan have launched a pilot project to build a network of weather stations in the region. The agricultural monitoring system will ensure accurate weather forecasts and allow for more efficient seasonal agricultural planning.
Rostelecom specialists have already installed weather stations in 25 municipal districts of Tatarstan. Each device is equipped with sensors for collecting data on air temperature, wind direction and speed, atmospheric pressure, precipitation, and ultraviolet radiation levels. The information collected from the devices is uploaded to farmers' personal accounts. Analytics can be viewed in a browser or mobile app.
"In July, we completed the first phase of our network construction and have already tested the system. By the end of the year, we plan to install more than 100 weather stations in all districts of Tatarstan. I am confident that representatives of the agricultural industry will appreciate the advantages of this digital solution," noted Pavel Gontsov, DIRECTOR of Rostelecom's branch in the Republic of Tatarstan
. "We've provided farmers with access to real-time weather data—they're currently actively testing the system. Our project is one of the largest in RUSSIA and covers the entire republic," said Niyaz Khaliullin, CEO of JSC Republican Information and Computing Center.
The meteorological equipment is certified and licensed. The devices provide weather forecasts for several days in advance with an accuracy of up to 95%. The built-in battery provides up to nine months of autonomous operation.
A strategic partnership agreement between Rostelecom and the Republican Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan was signed at the Kazan Digital Week international forum in 2024 .
