PIONERPRODUKT.by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition "Agriculture of the Republic of Dagestan". In this video, we will show a peach orchard that fits on three hectares, and at the same time brings 15 tons of crops . We will talk with Shamil about such important issues as fertilization, watering and pruning of peach trees, as well as touch on the features of treating the garden from pests.
No one knows when it was, but many years ago a man named Gadzhi brought several seedlings or seeds of an unfamiliar peach variety to these parts. When the trees grew and began to bear fruit, people were surprised at the excellent taste of these peaches and named them after Gadzhi. Since those ancient times, Dagestan has been famous for Gadzhi peaches, which are known far beyond the borders of the Republic.
The total area of Shamil's peach orchard is 3 hectares, where seven hundred trees are planted. In one season, the garden produces 15 tons of peaches. In the garden, as Shamil calls his garden, 4 types of peaches grow with different ripening periods, which allows you to evenly harvest throughout the season. The first peaches begin to ripen by June 15th.
The peach trees in the garden were planted 10 years ago. Peaches bear fruit for 20 years.
The fertilizer that is used in the peach orchard is cattle manure (which Shamil keeps in small quantities) and bird droppings - Shamil works at a poultry farm.
Garden watering system - drip, this method is optimal, because peach trees do not like excess moisture. Therefore, on average, watering for a peach orchard is turned on once every ten days for 12-14 hours.
The main task when pruning a tree is to put the branches on the ground, so that they do not interfere with each other - to give space between them for ventilation. Of course, Shamil does not claim that this method is the only correct one, but it brings its own results, and not bad ones at that. On the farm, pruning of trees is carried out, as a rule, in the spring.
After the peach leaves fall off in autumn, in order to save money, Shamil came up with the idea of launching calves into the garden, which eat these leaves with great pleasure. Calves graze and clean the garden all the very winter - until the first shoots appear on peach trees. After that, the garden bedding is treated with herbicides to remove weeds. This happens in the spring, at the end of April, only once.
To protect against pests, peach trees are treated with a 3% solution of copper sulphate before flowering, and after flowering with special insecticides such as "ephoria". The last processing on the sheet is carried out a month before harvesting.
At the time of filming, the price of peaches was 120-130 rubles per kg. Sale is carried out from the garden to wholesalers from neighboring republics with a small discount in relation to the market. Peaches are harvested by hand, in buckets, after which they are loaded into trucks.
