In the Moscow region in 2021, it is planned to harvest 30 thousand tons more potatoes than in the past. This was announced to journalists by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Sergey Voskresensky at the Day of the Potato Field, which takes place in the Dmitrovsky urban district of the region.
“We set ourselves the task of harvesting at least 30,000 tons of potatoes this year more than last year. The weather conditions were very difficult, we could not enter the field for a long time due to prolonged rains. Then the heat was not typical for our region. We even declared a weather emergency to protect our farmers from fines,” said Sergei Voskresensky.
The Minister noted that a more accurate representation will appear with the start of active potato harvesting.
The production of potatoes and vegetables in the open ground in the Moscow region is carried out by 5 large agricultural holdings and more than 90 farms. The sown area in the current year is 12.5 thousand hectares.
