The farms of Transbaikalia continue field work to prepare clean fallows for the 2024 harvest. The pace of work today is more than one and a half times higher than last year, said the HEAD of the regional agrarian department Denis Bochkarev.
“The preparation of fallows for next year's harvest was carried out on an area of 52.7 thousand hectares, which is 40% higher than in 2022 on the same date. In total, the farmers of the region will have to prepare clean fallows on an area of 74.3 thousand hectares,” the minister said.
Vapor preparation work is currently underway in 18 districts of the region. The largest volume has been completed so far in the Krasnokamensky district, where agricultural organizations raised 12.2 thousand hectares of pure fallow. Agricultural enterprises and farmers of the Chernyshevsky district held events on an area of 11.7 thousand hectares.
it should be noted that a well-prepared fallow, even in the absence of precipitation in the spring, has good reserves of productive moisture in the arable layer at a depth of 4-6 cm. Therefore, soil preparation in arid conditions plays a key role in obtaining a high yield . Accordingly, poorly prepared fallow leads to a sharp decrease in yield and, in general, instability of the grain economy.
