Issues of quotas for supplies of mineral fertilizers to the domestic market and containment of prices for them for agricultural producers of the Vologda Oblast were discussed by Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov at a working meeting in Cherepovets today.
“Prices for mineral fertilizers are growing for reasons beyond our control, so the issue of their regulation is very relevant. Markets are growing, demand for mineral fertilizers is growing all over the world. Today we have agreed that our chemical enterprises will fully ensure the supply of fertilizers for Vologda farmers at affordable prices,” the HEAD of the region noted.
The development of a compromise solution will be affected by an increase in the production capacity of chemical enterprises located in the Vologda Oblast. A new unit for the production of sulfuric acid and a reconstructed Kriolit railway station were put into operation at PhosAgro's Cherepovets chemical complex with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and the Governor of the Vologda Region today. The company has completed a large-scale strategic program for the modernization of production and once again demonstrated the best design solutions in practice.
“Yuri Borisov's visit to our region is of particular importance, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, PhosAgro's largest new facilities were opened at the Cherepovets industrial site. This is another step forward in increasing the production of mineral fertilizers, expanding the range and geography of deliveries. Today, at the meeting, it was announced the start of a new investment phase with an investment volume of more than 120 billion rubles - this is a new stage in the development of the Cherepovets chemical complex, which will start next year,” added Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
Over the past seven years, PhosAgro has invested more than 120 billion rubles in the construction of new production facilities and the modernization of existing ones, doubling production capacity. Andrey Guryev, Chairman of the Management Board, PhosAgro CEO, assured that the investment program would continue.
“Today, the company looks to the future with confidence thanks to experience, favorable market pricing and incentive measures from the Government of the Russian Federation and the region,” Andrey Guryev explained. – We are considering the possibility of building a new unit for the production of million tons of granulated ammonia and granulated urea here, at the site in Cherepovets. It will be one of the largest production facilities built in the world. We plan to start construction next year, the first products will appear at the end of 2025.”
The strategic priority for the Vologda Oblast is to ensure food security. According to the head of the region, it depends not only on the supply of mineral fertilizers, but also on state support measures for the development of new investment projects, support for the modernization and reconstruction of agricultural enterprises in the region. The Governor intends to allocate more than 7.5 billion rubles of budget support to agricultural producers in the next budget cycle.
