Russia's first deep processing plant for amaranth opened in the Voronezh region

On November 15, Governor Alexander Gusev and Chairman of the Board of Directors of AmarantAgro Scientific and Production Holding Oleg Sharykin took part in the ceremonial launch of the first line of the first plant in RUSSIA for deep processing of amaranth, which is being implemented in the special economic zone "Center" of the Voronezh Region by the company "Russkaya Oliva" (part of the holding "AmarantAgro").
The scientific and production holding "AmarantAgro" provides a full production cycle from the field to the finished product. For many years, the company's specialists have been researching the nutritional and medicinal properties of amaranth products, are engaged in the selection, cultivation and processing of this promising agricultural crop, the development and implementation of technologies for obtaining products for functional nutrition. The holding processes grain using its own patented technology. The holding's
investments in the first stage of the construction of the plant amounted to 1.525 billion rubles. it will process 6 thousand tons of amaranth grain per year. 149 jobs have been created, the average salary will be at least 102 thousand rubles. With the commissioning of the next stage of the plant in April 2025, the annual processing volume will increase to 12 thousand tons, and the number of jobs will increase to 185. The entire range of products is made from its own raw materials, which AmarantAgro grows in the fields of the Volgograd and Kemerovo regions. The company's arsenal includes seeds of its own selection, which have the corresponding patents. The seed fund is produced in the fields of the Voronezh region.
It is important to note that the company is implementing an import substitution program. More than 90% of the production equipment and machinery at the new plant is made in Russia, including at enterprises in the Voronezh region. The investment project provides for the phased launch of 10 production lines by 2030 with a capacity of 18 thousand tons each with a total processing volume of 180 thousand tons of amaranth grain per year.
Oleg Sharykin noted that amaranth was the food of the Eastern Slavs, and also grew in the Voronezh region - a mortar with the remains of amaranth seeds was found in Kostenki.
"This is the world's first plant for deep processing of amaranth - there are simply no others. We make FLOUR, cereals, make amaranth bars, granola, bread. Now we have 7 dietary supplements based on amaranth - we will get superfoods. Pet food based on amaranth cake," said Oleg Sharykin.
Governor Alexander Gusev noted that the regional authorities will support the project, understanding the importance of products obtained from amaranth for proper balanced healthy nutrition.
"There is a corresponding order. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin signed a decree on the development of such food products, and we are already producing some results in line with these instructions. In general, for the agricultural sector and for processing, it seems to me, a very important step has been taken. It seems to me that new crops for cultivation are very promising for our farmers," said Alexander Gusev.
