Sheep breeders of Transbaikalia received 545 tons of wool as a result of the shearing campaign

Sheep shearing was completed in the farms of Transbaikalia. As a result of the campaign, livestock breeders sheared 545 tons of wool, Denis Bochkarev, head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, said.
“According to the data of departmental monitoring, agricultural organizations and farms have sheared 195,000 heads of sheep and received 544,900 tons of fleece. The largest volume of wool was sheared by sheep breeders of the Mogoytuy region - 112 tons. 103.3 tons were produced in Aginsky district, 54.1 tons of sheep wool were produced in Ononsky district,” the minister said.
The average fleece sheared from one sheep in agricultural organizations amounted to 3.2 cu, in peasant (farm) farms - 2.8 kg.
It should be noted that at present the sheep breeders of the region have begun to sell wool to processing enterprises.
Earlier it was reported that at the end of March, livestock farms in Transbaikalia received subsidies to finance part of the costs of producing fine and semi-fine wool for a total of 22 million rubles, which is twice the level of state support in 2021.
