More than 13 thousand hectares will be sown with this crop in 2022.
Nizhny Novgorod agrarians have started sowing SUGAR beets: the first 170 hectares have been sown. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Nikolai Denisov.
“The cultivation of sugar beet in the Nizhny Novgorod region is traditionally done by farmers from the southern regions - Gaginsky, Pilninsky, Sergachsky, Sechenovsky, Spassky, Shatkovsky. In total, 13.2 thousand hectares of agricultural land will be occupied by this crop this year,” Nikolai Denisov said.
According to operational data as of April 29, 2022, sugar beets were sown on 120 hectares in the Shatkovsky district and on 50 hectares in the Pilninsky district.
“Sugar beet is the main source of raw materials for the production of sugar - it is produced in the Nizhny Novgorod Region by the Sergach Sugar Plant. This year the plant plans to produce 60,000 tons of granulated sugar, which is almost 14,000 tons more than a year ago,” added Nikolay Denisov.
As a reminder, about 5 billion rubles of subsidies have been allocated to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, of which almost 2 billion rubles have already been transferred to agricultural producers. The funds were used to carry out spring field work; melioration; reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; to support producers of MILK and vegetables, support personnel and other areas.
