Over 140 thousand hectares are sown with various agricultural crops today.
Nizhny Novgorod agrarians have begun planting potatoes and sowing vegetables. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Nikolai Denisov.
“Agricultural producers of the region have started planting potatoes and sowing vegetables in open ground. More than 14,000 hectares of agricultural land are allotted for potatoes this year, and over 800 hectares are planned to be sown with vegetables. The sowing of cereals, legumes, oilseeds and fodder crops continues. To date, spring sowing has been carried out on an area of 140,000 hectares,” said Nikolay Denisov.
Potato planting began in Arzamas, Bogorodsk, Lyskovsky, Balakhna districts: 180 hectares were planted. Agrarians of the Arzamas and Shatkovsky regions started sowing vegetables: 19 hectares were sown, including 10 hectares with beets and 9 hectares with carrots.
“A lot of work is being done in the region to form the harvest of winter crops: farmers carry out their feeding and harrowing. To date, mineral fertilization has already been completed on an area of about 180 thousand hectares - this is 80% of the plan. Winter wedge harrowing was carried out on 80 thousand hectares - 35% of the plan. Fertilizing and harrowing of perennial grasses, which are grown for fodder purposes, are also being carried out,” Nikolay Denisov added.
As a reminder, about 5 billion rubles of subsidies have been allocated to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, of which almost 2 billion rubles have already been transferred to agricultural producers. The funds were used to carry out spring field work; melioration; reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; to support producers of milk and vegetables, support personnel and other areas.
