"The forage harvesting campaign in the region is nearing completion – hay, haylage, and silage have been fully harvested, grain forage is being filled, and corn is being harvested for corn stubs. Farmers have prepared 34.4 centners of feed units per head of cattle for the upcoming winter, which is 27 percent more than planned."
According to operational data from the regional Ministry of Agriculture as of October 12, farms in the region have stockpiled 1,015 thousand tons of silage (128% of the plan), 838 thousand tons of haylage (126%), 172 thousand tons of hay (100%), 245 thousand tons of grain forage (99%), and 5,500 tons of corn stubs (57%).
"Wintering is a crucial season in livestock farming, and the productivity of livestock, and consequently the economic well-being of the farm, depends on whether the animals
are provided with sufficient, high-quality feed," Nikolai Denisov emphasized. As a reminder, 5.7 billion rubles in subsidies have been allocated in 2023 to support agricultural enterprises and rural development in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, of which 4.8 billion rubles have already been distributed to agricultural producers.
