Preparations for spring field work are nearing completion in Vologda Oblast

The sowing campaign became one of the main topics of the operational meeting with members of the regional Government under the leadership of Governor Georgy Filimonov.

"The sowing area this year will be 333.2 thousand hectares, which is 2.7% more compared to 2024 due to the introduction of 11 thousand hectares of land into agricultural circulation. This year it is planned to sow: 86.4 thousand hectares of spring grain crops, 3.2 thousand hectares of potatoes and vegetables, 2.5 thousand hectares of rapeseed, 1.8 thousand hectares of flax, 27.2 thousand hectares of forage crops to provide forage for farm animals," said the HEAD of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
According to Sergey Voropayev, winter crops, which were sown in the fall on an area of ​​4.7 thousand hectares, overwintered well, the survival rate was 95%. In general, the region is provided with a seed fund for spring sowing, there are 29.2 thousand tons of seeds of spring grain crops, more than 9 thousand tons of potato seeds. Seeds of forage crops, corn, flax, rapeseed will be purchased in full by the end of April. More than 85% of the seeds are varieties of domestic selection.
On the instructions of the Governor, a new support measure was developed in the region for growing corn for green fodder. The support measure worked - farmers plan to increase the indicators, this year they will sow 7.3 thousand hectares. In addition, 2.5 thousand hectares of spring rapeseed will be sown - this is a promising crop, which is grown in the North-West as an oilseed crop.
42 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers are needed for sowing, 83% of the plan has already been purchased - 35 thousand tons of fertilizers are available. Also, 7.3 thousand tons of fuel and lubricants will be required, purchases are made in small volumes as needed.
"Since the beginning of 2025, farmers have received 1.3 billion rubles in state support, including 470.7 million rubles for the timely implementation of agricultural technology work. On the instructions of the Governor, this year subsidies began to be allocated earlier than usual. By June 1, we plan to complete a new package of subsidies, including for MILK production , agricultural machinery and the purchase of seeds. The total amount of state support will reach 1.5 billion rubles by summer," added Sergei Voropaev.
The readiness of the equipment is 91%. Agricultural producers in the region have 3,492 tractors, 458 seeders, 509 cultivators, 647 plows. Since the beginning of 2025, 56 units of new equipment have been purchased. Currently, technical inspection and repair of equipment in the farms of the region continues.
