The harvesting campaign is in full swing in the Vologda region

Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov assessed the progress of the harvesting campaign today. The HEAD of the region visited the Zarya Stud Farm in the Gryazovets District.
The district ranks 2nd in the region in grain production, and the Zarya breeding plant operating here is one of the largest agricultural enterprises in the region. Now on the farm, as elsewhere in the Vologda region, the harvesting campaign is in full swing.
“Now we work in two shifts, cleaning goes on around the clock. We employ 14 combines and 115 machine operators. We have already harvested 1800 hectares, which is 30%. Our average yield is 38 c/ha. Another 2 combines work in 2 shifts to harvest fodder. 70 thousand tons of silage have already been prepared,” said Alexander Maslennikov, General DIRECTOR of JSC Plemzavod Zarya.
The harvested crop will be used to procure feed to supply the enterprise's livestock industry. By the way, the feed mill launched at the breeding plant last year has become one of the most modern in the country. Today, Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov also appreciated the capabilities of the latest equipment. The plant allows you to procure the required volume of feed and be confident in the quality of these products, which in turn ensures high MILK yields.
Let us add that the capacity of the new feed mill was calculated taking into account plans for the development of livestock farming, which are also being implemented. So, in 2022, the company launched a so-called “dairy kitchen”, where newborn calves are kept. According to experts, the productivity of an adult animal begins in the first months of its life and mainly depends on the quality of nutrition. A “dairy kitchen” for calves will make it possible to raise a herd of highly productive cows at the enterprise, which will delight you with milk yield and quality of milk.
As the Governor noted today, the Vologda region provides dairy products not only to the residents of its region, but also to other regions of the country. All this was the result of a large systematic work on the development of dairy farming in the Vologda region.
“This year we allocated 3 billion 740 rubles to support agriculture. This is the most significant amount of funds ever allocated for these purposes. Farms were able to purchase modern combine harvesters, equipment for dairy farms, fertilizers, etc. As for this year's harvesting campaign, it is in full swing. To date, 19% of the planned grain harvest has been collected, and feed procurement is 75% of the planned amount. The work is going on schedule, our villagers are working tirelessly around the clock, without weekends or holidays. As we say in the Russian North, a sunny day during harvest feeds the whole year. Thanks to the professional work of our farmers, the food security of the region will be fully ensured!” - said Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
