The main supplier of buckwheat in the Stavropol Territory is traditionally Piedmont Okrug: here, 500 hectares of farmland were sown on farms of all categories with late spring crops. Another 300 hectares were allocated in the Blagodarnensky District, 58 hectares in the Novoaleksandrovsky District and 50 hectares in the Budyonnovsky District.

“To date, 500 hectares of buckwheat fields have been harvested in the region and 500 tons of grain have been harvested with an average yield of 10 q/ha. Cleaning continues and will last until the first frosts,” said the acting DIRECTOR. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory Evgeny Grishchenko.

The cultivation of buckwheat in the Piedmont District is carried out by: Vysotnoye LLC, Vinsadskoe JSC, ETK Meristemnye Kultury LLC and Alexandra Zakharchenko K(F)H.

This district is ideal for growing this crop. She needs special climatic conditions: she loves moderate coolness, but at the same time she is very moisture-loving. The main varieties of buckwheat are Dialog, Dikul, Devyatka and Temp. The company sells the entire harvest obtained exclusively in the Stavropol Territory.

“We have already carried out herbicide treatment of the field, but the prolonged rains do not allow us to go out and start harvesting,” said Andrey Kovalenko, chief agronomist of Vinsadskoe JSC of the Predgorny District.
Vinsadskoye JSC plans to harvest 180 hectares of Temp buckwheat. And in the K (F) X of Alexander Zakharchenko, the harvesting of the culture has already been completed. 60 tons were harvested from 36 hectares with an average yield of 18 centners per hectare, and the rest of the crops, according to the farmer, were written off - due to heavy heavy rains, part of the buckwheat crops were badly damaged.

“Next year, Stavropol farmers intend to increase buckwheat crops: if in 2021 only 1.2 thousand hectares were allocated for this crop, now this area will increase by another 0.8 thousand hectares,” explained the HEAD of the crop production department of the Ministry of Agriculture Stavropol Territory Elena Tambovtseva.

State support for buckwheat producers is provided under the program of the Stavropol Territory "Development of Agriculture". This year, agricultural producers engaged in the cultivation of this crop have already been paid subsidies to reimburse part of the costs of carrying out a complex of agrotechnological works at an average rate of 138 rubles per hectare.
