The sugar beet harvest is underway in Stavropol Krai . This crop is of significant economic importance in the region's agro-industrial complex.
Farmers in the Novoaleksandrovsky and Izobilnensky districts have begun harvesting the root crop. To date, they have harvested 26,600 tons of sugar beets, with an average yield of 399.9 centners per hectare (same as last year).
This year, the region has significantly expanded its agricultural land area, with 36,500 hectares allocated, a 3.7% increase compared to last year. Sugar beets are cultivated in five districts of the region, with the largest acreage concentrated in the Novoaleksandrovsky, Izobilnensky, and Kochubeevsky districts.
Governor Vladimir Vladimirov's initiative to support domestic sugar beet seed production is providing a significant impetus for the industry's development. Support for the industry is provided as part of the regional state program "Agricultural Development."
"The application process for subsidies has already begun and will continue until August 10. Farmers will be able to receive subsidies to reimburse 70% of the cost of purchased domestic planting material. The regional budget has allocated 4 million rubles for this purpose for this year," noted Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the region.
