A real “five-star hotel” for calves has appeared on the Dobraya farm in the Kaluga region. Immediately after birth, they enter a modern calf barn and spend two months in comfortable conditions, after which they move on to the next stage of rearing. Individual housing in huts along with a specialized diet allows for the formation of the strongest possible immunity in young animals - this is an important and responsible stage in the life of a farm.
The "Spa Center" for calves was implemented on the basis of the agricultural complex of LLC "Green Lines - Kaluga" on the "Dobraya" farm. This is one of the company's 3 dairy farms, which are located in an ecologically clean area of the Kaluga region. MILK from these farms is valued for its high content of useful components; it undergoes filtration and the necessary preparation for delivery immediately after milking. The implemented full cycle of work on the farm allows interested industries to receive a high-quality product in the shortest possible time.
Milk from the Dobraya farm has long been a key ingredient in the functional food recipes of the Ivan-Pole brand. Therefore, its specialists actively supported the construction of a modern calf barn, since the quality of milk depends primarily on the living conditions of the animals on the farm. It is important to take care of calves from the first days of life so that they become dairy and highly productive cows in the future.
“Our calf barn meets the standards for keeping growing animals. The abundance of light in the new design increases feed consumption, and the calves quickly gain weight. It is important that precipitation is prevented from getting on the pre-starter feed and bedding material, and the work of the staff is optimized,” said Galina Viktorovna Yablokova, HEAD of the Livestock Department at Green Lines – Kaluga LLC.
As part of new technologies, the calf develops in its own microflora; the abundance of light and the absence of drafts protect the young from diseases. Feeding, like accommodation, is strictly individual. It is very important that each calf receives the required 6-7 liters of milk daily. The air volume here is comparable to natural conditions in which the animal can develop at its best.
The “spa center” for calves in the Kaluga region is designed for individual care of 3,000 animals per year. Therefore, the introduction of modern technologies in caring for them is a responsible task for the Dobraya farm. Their use in the process of raising healthy calves, well developed and adapted to industrial conditions, is also the basis for increasing livestock production throughout the Kaluga region.
