On the Don in the last agricultural season, the harvest of berries and fruits increased by 8%

The area under fruit trees in agricultural organizations and farms amounted to 3.2 thousand hectares.

In agricultural enterprises and farms of the Rostov region, according to operational data, almost 15 thousand tons of fruit and berry crops were harvested in the last agricultural season.

“There are no final statistics yet, but according to preliminary information for 11 months, the harvest of fruits and berries is 8% compared to the same period last year. - said the first deputy of the Don Governor Viktor Goncharov. - The growth of the gross harvest was achieved due to the fact that recently planted intensive and super-intensive orchards began to bear fruit in the region. In general, the Rostov region last year received more than 110 million rubles from the federal and regional budgets to subsidize activities for the development of horticulture, and this made it possible to plant young gardens on an area of ​​213 hectares.

In addition, with the participation of state support funds, care work was carried out on 700 hectares of garden areas, and 22 hectares of old-growth gardens were uprooted.

According to the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, 12 agricultural organizations planted young orchards and berries last season. Nurseries were also established on an area of ​​4.5 hectares.
In general, in the Rostov region, the area under fruit trees in agricultural organizations and farms is 3.2 thousand hectares. In 2020, the gross harvest of fruit and berry products by agricultural organizations and peasant farms amounted to 13.7 thousand tons.
