A record for the region harvest of oilseeds was harvested on the Don

In the Rostov region, the preliminary results of the harvesting of oilseeds are being summed up. According to preliminary operational estimates, their gross harvest is 2 million 5 thousand tons, with an average yield of 20.4 q/ha.

“We can already say that this year the Rostov region has harvested a record oilseed crop, and this is more than 40,000 tons more than in 2019, which was a record oilseed crop for the region,” emphasized Victor Goncharov. “Compared to last year, the current figure is almost 580,000 tons more than last year’s gross harvest.”

According to the Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the basis of the oilseed crops is sunflower, the harvest of which amounted to more than 1 million 824 thousand tons (in 2020, the crop was 1 million 289 thousand tons) with a yield of 21.6 q/ha. In addition, this year's oilseed flax harvest almost doubled last year's figures and amounted to almost 133,000 tons with a yield of 13.6 q/ha.

The leader in the harvest of oilseeds is the Zernograd region, where farmers harvested 116.7 thousand tons.

The highest yield of oilseeds was recorded in the Myasnikovsky district - 32.6 q/ha.
