In this video, we continue to get acquainted with the activities of one of the leading agricultural enterprises in the country, Yeremyan Products. Today we will show the conditions for keeping young cattle and talk about the breeds of cattle kept on the farm.
We are under a canopy where Holstein cows walk, which were brought from Holland in the amount of 68 heads in order to increase milk yields. According to documents, cows of this breed give 9.5-10 thousand liters of milk per lactation with a fat content of 2.7-3.4%.
The whole farm is located at an altitude of about 1800 meters above sea level, and the climatic conditions are determined by hot weather and scorching sun, so cows must adapt to these conditions before reaching the desired milk yield. While they are on the range, however, after calving they will be transferred to the premises.
There are also 56 black and red Aberdeen Angus cows on the farm. The need for this breed of cattle is associated with the need for "marble meat" for a restaurant chain that is part of the enterprise. They will not graze on the pasture, however, spacious areas on the farm are equipped for walking.
The farm also contains a rare meat and dairy breed of cattle - flekvi. In addition to milk production, these animals also have good meat qualities, which is especially noticeable in bulls, whose weight can reach 900-1000 kg.
Despite the fact that newborn fleckwy calves have a large head size and a calf weight at birth of about 40 kg, calving is easy for them. But still, at the first calving, obstetric care is sometimes necessary. For this, a veterinarian is constantly on the farm.
