The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan launches a project to combat overconsolidation of soils

The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan, Sharip Sharipov, held a practical seminar in the Khasavyurt region on combating overconsolidation of soils.

Sharip Sharipov noted that the problem of soil compaction today is one of the most acute in the agriculture of the republic. The emergence of the so-called "plow sole" leads to a violation of the most important processes of providing air and moisture to plants.

“For decades, we have been plowing to the same depth of 20-22 cm, and as a result, a “plow pan” has appeared, which does not allow precipitation to pass into the lower layers. Moisture must go to a meter layer and accumulate there for the development of plants, and because of the “plough sole”, air exchange and moisture retention are also disturbed in our country, the root system of plants cannot go deeper. And if there is a slope on the field, then another problem arises at all - soil erosion, when the fertile soil layer is simply washed away by precipitation, ”said the First Deputy Minister.

He noted that in order to destroy the “plough sole”, it is necessary to carry out work at a depth of more than 35 cm with the help of chisel plows (subsoilers for moldboardless cultivation). farmed wheat, corn and other crops.

According to Sharip Sharipov, at present there are subsoilers for non-moldboard soil cultivation only in a few regions of the republic. Due to the importance of the problem, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan will reimburse, as a matter of priority, half of the costs incurred by agricultural producers for the purchase of these units.

“In those farms that carry out work on the destruction of the“ plow sole ”, the yield increases by 20-40%. But in Dagestan today there are only 26 such subsoilers, they are available only in the farms of six districts - mainly in Khasavyurt and Kizlyar. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan will stimulate the purchase of subsurface tillers by reimbursement of 50% of the cost of purchased units. We are launching the “Destroy the plow pan” project, we will involve an increasing number of farms in its orbit, which will allow us to significantly improve the structure of our soils, microbiological activity, improve their water permeability, moisture capacity, and air exchange, which ultimately leads to an increase in soil fertility ", - said the first deputy minister.
