The state of winter crops in the Stavropol Territory is constantly monitored by specialists from agricultural services and agricultural enterprises. To date, winter crops (without rapeseed) have grown on 100% of the sown area, of which 98% are in good and satisfactory condition. The highest percentage of good crops is observed in the Izobilnensky, Turkmen and Neftekumsky districts.
According to the data of the North Caucasian Federal National Research Center for the period November-February, the plants grew significantly and became stronger, they had additional tillering shoots, and a developed root system was formed.
The improvement in the condition of plants over the winter period is especially clearly visible on crops of late sowing dates: if in November 2021 they had a sprout (sprout) phase, then in February 2022 - the beginning of tillering.
“Scientists recommend carrying out preparatory work for care activities in the early spring (nitrogen fertilization, plant protection, harrowing, repairing crops if necessary),” said Elena Tambovtseva, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
To carry out the recommended work, agricultural producers of the region accumulate seeds, mineral fertilizers, plant protection products, and prepare equipment for the upcoming spring field work.
