Interregional symposium "Regional aspects of fisheries" was held in the "Russian House" Vologda

Representatives of the fishing industry met in the regional capital to discuss issues of the state, practical achievements and problems of domestic commercial fish farming, fishing and fish processing.
The event was attended by specialists from 10 regions of Russia: Arkhangelsk, Leningrad, Moscow, Novgorod, Pskov regions, the Republics of Tatarstan, Komi, Karelia, the cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as the Republic of Belarus.
As part of the symposium, recommendations were developed for the development of the fishery complex of the regions with the participation of federal and regional executive authorities, industry research institutes, expert practitioners, as well as scientists and teachers of industry educational institutions, fish farm specialists, enterprises producing specialized equipment, feed and planting material for commercial fish farming.
Within the framework of the round tables, topical issues in the fishery industry were raised: from the formation of a raw material base to the branding of fish products. Heads of four educational institutions of the fishery profile exchanged experience in professional training of personnel. Representatives of science spoke about new experimental studies in the aquaculture industry, leading fish farms shared their experience in implementing investment projects.
In general, more than 30 interesting reports were made at the event. Issues of protection of aquatic biological resources, artificial reproduction and other fishery aspects were touched upon.
“It was not by chance that we decided today to create a platform in Vologda for the exchange of experience in the development of fisheries and fish farming. The first fish farm in the region was established in 2007 and was the only one until 2014. The adoption of the Strategy for the Development of the Fishery Complex of the Russian Federation made it possible to set priorities and take a huge step forward for the growth of the industry in the regions, - commented Deputy Governor Mikhail Glazkov. - Today, we can rightfully be proud of the fact that the largest black caviar production enterprise in RUSSIA is located in the region, and the largest investment project in Russia is being implemented to build an industrial-type fish farm for growing salmon (Atlantic salmon) with a capacity of up to 2,500 tons per year.
In the Vologda Oblast, the production of fish products has increased tenfold over the past seven years, and by 2022 its volume amounted to 1093 tons. Close cooperation has been established for the supply of feed, equipment, fish seed with partners from neighboring regions, as well as from Belarus and other countries.
An important role in the fishery complex of the region is occupied by the segment of amateur and industrial fishing. The volume of industrial production has stabilized at the level of 1400 - 1800 tons and is slightly more than the volume of aquaculture production.
Also within the framework of the symposium was an exhibition of the fishing industry. 21 organizations took part in its exposition. The guests of the exhibition were presented with samples of equipment for the production of fish products and related industries (fodder production, processing).
For enterprises, participation in the exhibition provides an opportunity to present the company, its products, find access both to markets within the region and beyond the borders of the region, exchange experience with colleagues, get acquainted with new types of products and developments, and find investors. In total, more than 600 people took part in the symposium.
