Legendary horses of Kok-boru: Boyko, Achilles, Storm, Alay, Shcheroy. What is Kok-boru. Kyrgyzstan.

pionerprodukt.by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition “Agriculture and agritourism in Kyrgyzstan”. In this video we will talk about kok-boru and see horses.
At the hippodrome in the capital of Kyrgyzstan - Bishkek, we are shown the legendary horses that play in the big leagues: Shcheroy, Storm, Alai, Achilles, Boyko. All horses and athletes, as, indeed, in all team sports, have their own roles: defender, striker and center, who must take the carcass of a goat in the middle of the field.
The horse of Manas Niyazov, nicknamed Boyka, is famous for his sports results, namely, for his speed, which is so necessary in attack. Boyko is currently undergoing rehabilitation. The whole of Kyrgyzstan is waiting for his return, as everyone fell in love with him for his speed endurance and ability to interact with Manas.
All the horses that are shown to us begin to beat with their hooves when they enter the sand of the hippodrome. They have already developed conditioned reflexes, as they come here to fight. Horses can participate in kok-boru competitions for quite a long time. There were even cases when the horse ended his sports career at the age of 21.
Big kok-boru competitions are held 3 times a year: March 21, May 9 and August 31. All of them are timed to the main holidays of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. In addition, kok-boru championships and the famous Nomad Games are held.
To ensure that neither horses nor athletes are injured during the game, tai cauldrons are made of fiberglass and covered with rubber on the outside. They serve as a gate into which athletes must throw the carcass of a goat.
Horses, like athletes, have their fans who are waiting for their pets to perform. Up to 7,000 spectators can gather at major competitions.
The composition of one team is 12 horses and, accordingly, 12 riders, without the right to substitute, including in case of injury. The game itself lasts 3 halves of 20 minutes. The width of the tai-cauldron is 3 meters, and the distance between them is 80 meters. At the same time, the playing field itself is much wider.
