Lipetsk farmer creates a nut nursery with funds from Agrostartap

Hazelnuts, as it turns out, are a promising crop for the latitudes of the Lipetsk region. And for local farmers too.
Last year, aspiring farmer Valentina Selivanova decided not just to grow nuts, but to create an entire nursery in the Khleven district. It’s one thing to make a dream come true on your personal plot, and quite another to put your business on stream, make it accessible and understandable to everyone.
Valentina immersed herself in studying the literature on hazelnut cultivation, met breeders, and decided on the most profitable varieties. Then I decided to take part in the competitive selection for the Agrostartup grant. Having become the winner of the competition, Valentina allocated state support funds, and “Agrostartup” is issued within the framework of the national project “Small and Medium Enterprises,” for the purchase of machinery, equipment, greenhouses and installation of a water supply system. She says that without such effective assistance from the state, she would hardly have been able to expand on such a large scale and have the prospect of developing her own business.
“Proper use of state support funds is the key to a farmer’s success,” says Vyacheslav Yavnykh , DIRECTOR of the Lipetsk Region Agro-Industrial Competence Center. – The next step is the creation of a family farm, for the development of which you can also receive grants and subsidies . Here the amounts are larger and the areas of spending are wider.”
