Lipetsk gardeners collected 80 thousand tons of apples this year

The record figure allowed the region to enter the top 5 regions of the Russian Federation for APPLE production.
The apple harvest in the region has been completed. The organized production sector produced 80 thousand tons this year. 45 thousand tons have already been stored. Last year, 54 thousand tons of apples were harvested in the Lipetsk region. Previously, a good harvest of pome fruits was collected in 2021. Then the organized production sector produced 74.6 thousand tons of apples.
There are 13 specialized horticultural farms engaged in apple production in the Lipetsk region. They are located in 9 districts. Over 80 varieties of apples are grown there. More than 90% of the regional volume of commercial production of apples comes from the two largest horticultural farms located in the Lebedyansky district.
Apple orchards in the organized production sector of the region occupy 6.2 thousand hectares. Almost half of them are intensive gardens. The replacement of tall, extensive apple tree plantings with intensive low-growing orchards is being carried out to increase production volumes. In such gardens, at least 300-400 centners of apples per hectare are harvested. Every year the region produces from 50 to 70 thousand tons of fruits. The area under intensive gardens is increasing. In the coming years, Lipetsk gardeners in the organized production sector plan to harvest at least 100 thousand tons of apples. The total volume of fruit storage in the region is already over 70 thousand tons.
