As of September 7, horticultural farms in the Lipetsk region harvested 16.8 thousand tons of fruit and berry products, including 15.3 thousand tons of apples.

According to Oleg Dolgikh, the HEAD of the Department of Agriculture of the Lipetsk Region, there are more than ten horticultural farms in the region. On average, they produce from 40 to 63 thousand tons of apples per year. In 2020, 54.6 thousand tons of fruits and berries were harvested in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms of the region.

The expansion of fruit and berry plantations is one of the priorities for the development of the region's agro-industrial complex. The laying of high-intensity orchards with new popular varieties with a marketable yield of up to 90% is combined with the simultaneous construction of modern storage facilities with a gaseous environment, which makes it possible to preserve apples from harvest to harvest.

The total area of fruit and berry plantations in the Lipetsk region at the end of last year amounted to 11 thousand hectares, including 2.1 thousand hectares of intensive and super-intensive orchards. In the spring of 2021, horticultural farms in the region planted another 327 hectares of perennial plantings, of which 297 hectares are intensive gardens.

“Gardening is a very interesting and promising area,” says Oleg Dolgikh. “Apples and berries grown in Lipetsk are of high quality and are in great demand in all parts of RUSSIA.”
