Commentary by Oleg Sirota on veterinary drugs

The government has simplified the registration of medicines and feed additives for animals.

The new registration procedure for additives, which will be effective from July 1, involves:

- Reducing the period of state registration from 45 to 35 days.
- Changes to already registered products will be made on a notification basis.

The relief will be in effect until March 1, 2023.

The changes will also affect veterinary medicines:

- The list of drugs for registration in an expedited manner will include original Russian drugs that will replace imported analogues. The registration procedure for them will take no more than 60 business days.

- The list of documents for registration of medicines will be reduced.

In addition, there will be an accelerated accreditation procedure for testing laboratories until September 1, 2023. The procedure will take no more than 30 days instead of 61.

- The decision is really timely. The entire agricultural sector is now engaged in import substitution and is doing quite well. We have repeatedly discussed the situation of replacing imported drugs with domestic ones with farmers in the regions. In our country, there are companies that can produce medicines for animals in terms of quality no worse than imported ones. Many of the farmers are already using them. Today, it is necessary to increase the production of domestic medicines and feed additives in order to fully provide farms with them. At the same time, I note that not a single representative of foreign suppliers refused to work in RUSSIA. But in today's conditions, it is important for us to support domestic manufacturers of veterinary drugs. I am sure that the quality of our work and agricultural products will not suffer at all, - commented Oleg Sirota,
