Results of work in the field of seed production in relation to seeds of agricultural plants on the territory of the Republic of Mordovia for 2023

The department of supervision in the field of plant quarantine, quality and safety of grain and seed production in the Republic of Mordovia of the Office of Roosselkhoznadzor in the Republic of Mordovia and the Penza region for 12 months of 2023 carried out 45 control (supervisory) activities without interaction with the controlled person in the field of seed production of agricultural plants in relation to agricultural seeds plants. Of these, 8 are in the form of monitoring compliance with mandatory requirements and 37 on-site surveys of business entities engaged in the sale of agricultural seeds.
Based on the results of control (supervision) activities, in 24 cases it was established that stores were selling seeds of agricultural plants, the varieties of which were not included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements approved for use on the territory of the Russian Federation.
For each identified fact, a warning was announced about the inadmissibility of violating mandatory requirements in the field of seed production with a proposal not to allow seed varieties that do not meet legal requirements to be sold.
As part of the State assignment, 9 samples from the vegetative parts of plants of agricultural crops were sent to the Tatar testing laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "ARRIAH" for the presence of GMOs in them. According to the results of laboratory tests, genetically modified organisms were not found in the vegetative parts of plants.
In order to prevent violations of mandatory requirements in the field of seed production, as well as eliminate the causes, factors and conditions that contribute to them, in 2023, 114 preventive visits, 391 consultations, and 11 notifications of interested business entities were carried out.
