These are not hives! These are bee houses! Antique beekeeper's inventory

PIONERPRODUKT.by continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition in the Republic of Tatarstan. And in this video we will look at the unusual design of the hives and a small home museum of old beekeeping tools.

The apiary was organized in 2011 and currently there are one hundred and seventy bee colonies. The farm constantly pays attention to this apiary, trying to provide a good honey base.

The senior beekeeper of the Almaz apiary is a carpenter, so most of the hives are made by him. In addition, thanks to the creative approach and decorative decoration, the beehives are more reminiscent of old Tatar wooden houses.

Diamond is a hereditary beekeeper. Even from the great-grandfather there were old family beekeeping tools, which are collected in a small impromptu museum. Most of the copies were in use in the 40s of the last century.

There is a device for printing honeycombs, a wooden box for honey. Particular attention was drawn to the honey extractor, made of a single piece of wood, hollowed from the inside, with an installed grid and a wooden manual drive. There is also a swarm - a device for catching the capture of bees.

A pair of protective masks has been preserved, due to the lack of synthetic materials at that time, masks were made from improvised means. First, a rim was made from the popular print according to the shape of the face, then a metal mesh and thick burlap up to the shoulders were attached. Of course, in such a mask, visibility left much to be desired, but there was protection.

There are a few traps left, made from tree trunks, hollowed out from the inside. Instead of an artificial hole, beekeepers knocked out a knot, thereby forming a natural notch. Then the trap was hung on a tree, where a swarm of bees fell. In principle, to this day, traps similar in design are used.

On the walls of the impromptu museum hang homemade auxiliary tools: various scoops, a skating rink, a scoop for collecting swarms, an awl, frames for a beehive, a feeder for bees and an element for a solar wax melter.

You can learn more about ancient tools for farming and not only on the PIONERPRODUKT.BY portal and our videos.
