Epizootic situation on especially dangerous animal diseases in the world from July 17 to July 23, 2021

For the period from 17 to 23 July 2021, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received reports of the registration of 141 outbreaks of especially dangerous animal diseases in 22 countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the OIE website.

An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtype H5 was registered in the poultry population in Ghana (6 outbreaks). The disease has not been reported in the country since 2019. In addition, highly pathogenic avian influenza was noted in Belgium (1 outbreak), Norway (2), Sweden (1) and South Africa (4). The disease caused by viruses of the H5, H5N1 and H5N8 subtypes was detected in farm birds and wild birds.

African swine fever outbreaks have been registered in Bulgaria (1), Hungary (15), Germany (2), Latvia (7), Romania (47), South Africa (4), CHINA (1) and SOUTH KOREA (34 outbreaks). In Germany, ASF was first reported in domestic pigs. The fight against classical swine fever in Japan continues (1).

FMD type O notified in Mongolia (1). On the territory of Zimbabwe (2 outbreaks), the FMD virus that caused the outbreak was not typed.
