For the period from 16 to 22 October 2021, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) received reports of the registration of 153 foci of especially dangerous animal diseases in 20 countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the official website of the OIE.

The government of Ceuta announced the discovery of rabies in a stray dog. The origin of the animal remains unknown, but authorities suspect that this or other infected animals entered Ceuta across the Moroccan border.

African swine fever outbreaks continue to be registered in Hungary (2), Germany (18), Latvia (10), Poland (20), Romania (39) and Haiti (6).

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in Germany (1), Italy (1), Serbia (3), Ukraine (1), Finland (1), Israel (1) and Taiwan (3). The disease caused by the H5, H5N1, H5N5 and H5N8 subtypes has been reported in farm birds and wild birds. Low pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been reported in Italy (1).

Foci of infectious nodular dermatitis have been recorded in Cambodia (8) and Malaysia (16). Foot-and-mouth disease has been reported in Zambia (10). Hemorrhagic disease of rabbits - in Luxembourg (1). New foci of West Nile fever have been reported in Germany (3). Anthrax has been identified in cattle in Spain (2). Tularemia - in Norway (3).

In the United States and Spain, one focus of coronavirus infection COVID-19 (SARS-COV-2) was registered.
