Epizootic situation for especially dangerous animal diseases in the world from January 15 to January 21, 2022

For the period from 15 to 21 January 2022, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received reports of the registration of 338 foci of especially dangerous animal diseases in 26 countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the official website of the OIE.

FMD type O has been reported in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan (1). The infection has been reported in cattle.

African swine fever outbreaks have been identified in Hungary (26), Italy (5), Latvia (29), Romania (38), Hong Kong (1) and South Africa (1).

Highly pathogenic avian influenza among agricultural birds and wild birds has been reported in 20 countries: Belgium (2), Great Britain (10), Hungary (5), Germany (15), Denmark (23), Ireland (1), Spain (2) , Italy (3), Latvia (2), Netherlands (58), Poland (3), Portugal (3), Slovenia (14), France (65), Croatia (3), Togo (1), Nigeria (11) , South Africa (1), Israel (2) and Japan (3). In all cases, the H5N1 avian influenza virus was isolated and identified.

Newcastle disease has been reported in Israel (6).

On the territory of Spanish Melilla (1) a case of rabies in a dog was noted.

CORONAVIRUS infection covid-19 has been detected in companion animals in Slovenia (1) and Switzerland (2). The disease has been reported in cats and domestic ferrets.
