Epizootic situation on especially dangerous animal diseases in the world from May 14 to May 20, 2022

For the period from May 14 to May 20, 2022, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received reports of the registration of 272 foci of especially dangerous animal diseases from 19 countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the official website of the OIE.

African swine fever was first reported in Nepal (6). Gabon (1) has notified an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza. The disease has not been previously reported in the country.

The outbreaks of African swine fever were observed in Hungary (16), Italy (3), Latvia (5), RUSSIA (2), Romania (12), Poland (24).

New outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza were reported by the UK (4), Hungary (80), Germany (3), Israel (1), Spain (1), CANADA (16), Moldova (1), Nepal (1), usa (54 ), Czech Republic (1), Japan (2). In the outbreaks, the disease was recorded among wild and farm birds, in most cases the H5N1 avian influenza subtype was identified. In addition, the disease caused by the H5N8 subtype virus was noted in Israel, while the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was not typed in Moldova. In the United States, avian influenza virus has been isolated from red foxes.

New outbreaks of Newcastle disease continue to be reported in Colombia (1).

In Israel, foot-and-mouth disease (6) and TB infection (3) continue to be reported in cattle.

On the territory of Sierra Leone (30) outbreak of anthrax. CORONAVIRUS infection covid-19 has been diagnosed in companion animals, dogs and cats, in Switzerland (1).
