
In September 2021, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received reports of the registration of new foci of especially dangerous diseases in various countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the OIE website.
The first identified outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was reported by the Haitian authorities. ASF was also registered in the Dominican Republic (43 outbreaks), Hungary (12), Germany (31), Latvia (20), Poland (279), Romania (250), Ukraine (1), Hong Kong (1), CHINA (1) , Malaysia (13), Philippines (34), SOUTH KOREA (99) and South Africa (10). New foci of classical swine fever have been reported in Japan (18).
Highly pathogenic influenza subtype H5N8 has been reported in previously disease-free Luxembourg (1) and Pakistan (1). Outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtypes H5, H5N1, H5N2, H5N6, H5N8 and H7N7 notified by the veterinary services of Belgium (3), the Netherlands (1), Poland (1), Finland (9), France (4), Czech Republic (1), Sweden (3), Vietnam (4), India (71), Taiwan (2), Botswana (1), Togo (1) and South Africa (2). The disease has been noted among agricultural birds and wild birds. Newcastle disease has been reported in Belize (2).
In Mongolia, cases of animal disease with infectious nodular dermatitis (3 foci), plague of small ruminants (1), and foot-and-mouth disease (3) have been identified. Lumpy skin disease has also been reported in Cambodia (7), Malaysia (41), Nepal (3) and Thailand (1). Foot and mouth disease - in Namibia (1) and South Africa (7).
In September, cases of bovine spongiform encephalopathy were reported from Brazil (2) and the UK (1). Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia has been reported in Namibia (2). Rift Valley fever foci have been identified in Libya (4). Anthrax has been reported in Spain (10), Kazakhstan (2) and Kyrgyzstan (1).
Rabies has been identified in Germany (1) and Malaysia (1). Rabbit haemorrhagic disease has been reported in Norway (1), Mexico (12), usa (1), and Cuba (6). Rift valley fever in Germany (6). In Norway (3) - tularemia. Animal cases of CORONAVIRUS infection covid-19 (SARS-COV-2) have been reported in Greece (1), Spain (1), Sweden (1), Indonesia (1), Japan (1) and the United States (9).
