
In November 2021, employees of the reference laboratory for bovine diseases of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Center for Animal Health" subordinated to Rosselkhoznadzor took part in the first workshop of the global reference network of national laboratories for peste des petits ruminants (PRPR), created at the initiative of the OIE, adopted in December 2020 (https ://oiebulletin.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/OIE-News-November-202...) with the support of existing OIE reference centers (CIRAD (France), Pirbright Institute (UK) and others.
The purpose of this network, of which the FGBI “ARRIAH” bovine reference laboratory is also a member, is to create strong partnerships between the OIE Reference Laboratories and national reference laboratories around the world, to improve communication between recognized experts from national reference laboratories and PPR diagnostic laboratories in different countries.
The OIE PPR Reference Laboratory Network, by providing accurate and timely data, will support the PPR Global Control and Eradication Strategy in preventing, detecting and controlling the disease. Within the framework of the network, it is planned to carry out diagnostic studies on PPR, participate in the ISI, as well as provide scientific and technical assistance and support for regional control programs, exchange of biological materials and information between laboratories.
More than 20 delegates from France, England, Austria, Russia, China , Iran, India, Pakistan, a number of African countries and other countries of Eurasia took part in the event.
During the meeting, the workshop participants listened to the reports of the OIE reference laboratory for PPR (CIRAD (France), Pirbright Institute (UK), discussed the main problems and the current situation with PPR.
During the discussion of the materials of the reports and presentations presented during the workshop, several key areas of work of the established network of reference laboratories for the implementation of the Global Strategy for the Control and Eradication of PPR were identified.
