“In Chuvashia there are 4 mechanisms for small businesses - these are grants to family farms, cooperatives, Agrostartup and Perspective. At the end of 2023, 63 grants were issued. Of these, 23 grants worth 213 million rubles are from the federal budget, 40 grants worth 159 million rubles are from the republican budget,” notes the Deputy Prime Minister,Minister of Agriculture Sergei Artamonov.
The most popular grant has traditionally been the “Agrostartup” grant for beginning farmers, which is provided thanks to the national project “Small and Medium Enterprises,” initiated by the President of the country.
As a result of the competitive selection for grants, the commission identified 35 winners, who were provided with 120 million rubles for the implementation of business plans.
16 farms received funds under the federal mechanism in the amount of 61 million rubles. And additionally, grants for 59 million rubles were provided from the republican budget to another 19 farmers.
“There is a lot of competition among beginning farmers. Previously, the number of applications for 1 grant was 6-7; there was not enough money for everyone, although the projects were very interesting. In 2022, the HEAD of the Republic Oleg Nikolaev decided to add a republican one, in addition to the federal mechanism, in order to reach as many as possible who want to start their own business in agriculture,” explained the Deputy Prime Minister of Chuvashia.
The next growth opportunity for farmers is the Perspective grant. The essence is in the name itself: it is provided to farms for the development of promising areas in agriculture. This measure of state support is republican and is valid only in the region.
In 2023, 21 farmers received a grant in the amount of 99.8 million rubles. Based on the selection results, 8 rural entrepreneurs received a grant for the development of berry farming, 7 – for sheep farming, and 6 – for aquaculture.
“Regional grant “Perspective” - we issued it for 3 years for cheese making, berry growing, aquaculture, and sheep breeding. In 2024 , we will add two new directions - rural tourism and vegetable growing. We also think this is very important,” notes Sergei Artamonov.
Grants for family farms and agricultural consumer cooperatives are provided only through the federal mechanism. At the end of the year, support was received by 5 family farms in the amount of 72.1 million rubles and 2 cooperatives in the amount of 80 million rubles.
“The development of farms is the engine of the village. State support measures for small agricultural businesses began to be implemented in 2012, and during this time farmers in the republic were provided with 2.85 billion rubles in grant funds, with the help of which not only new equipment was purchased, new farms were built, but also 1,802 jobs were created,” summed up Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture of Chuvashia Sergei Artamonov.
