Farmers of Chuvashia began deliveries of onion sets to the Republic of Belarus

Two farms of the Batyrevsky district of the Republic of Chuvashia prepared and sent EXPORT batches of onion sets of 40 and 20 tons of Sturon, Stuttgarter Riesen and Carmen varieties.
According to the conclusions issued by the Chuvash branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "CNMVL", all products comply with the quarantine phytosanitary requirements of the importing countries. The Department of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR issued the relevant phytosanitary certificates.
The production of onion sets is one of the most labor-intensive in agriculture, says the HEAD of the peasant farm Leonid Kuznetsov. Onion sets are among the plants that are very demanding on temperature and soil moisture. it gives a generous harvest only on rich, fertile soils that hold moisture well. Light chernozems are most suitable for it.
“In order to get a good onion set, planting in the spring should begin as early as possible, especially since the plant is cold-resistant and is not afraid of spring frosts. Such conditions correspond to the southern regions of the republic,” the farmer emphasizes.
It should be noted that 68.8% of Russian onion sets are produced in the Chuvash Republic! The largest number of producers of onion sets is located in the Batyrevsky district. 53 farms are engaged in the cultivation of this crop.
