Field work continues in the Rostov region. Don farmers are harvesting late grain and early industrial crops, while at the same time work is underway to sow winter grains for the 2023 harvest.
“Today, the entire range of field work is being carried out in the region’s farms,” said the First Deputy Don Governor - Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky. – Today, Don farmers have sown 975 thousand hectares with winter crops, or 33% of the planned area. Late grain and industrial crops are also being harvested everywhere . Today, the main task is to take advantage of stable weather to complete the entire complex of harvesting work and sow winter crops in the shortest possible time.”
According to operational data, out of 180 thousand hectares of late grain crops (corn, sorghum, rice, millet, buckwheat), farms in the region harvested 44 thousand hectares, or almost 25%. The gross harvest amounted to almost 133 thousand tons, the average yield was 30 c/ha (last year it was 22 c/ha).
Harvesting of oilseeds (rapeseed, mustard , flax, sunflower) is intensifying. To date, more than 863 thousand tons have been collected from 37% of the area (about 415 thousand hectares). At the same time, the average yield is 20.8 c/ha (in 2022 – 16.8 c/ha).
Also, a number of farms in the region harvest SUGAR beets. To date, 335 thousand tons have been collected from 38% of the harvested area, with a yield of 457.6 c/ha.
In addition, harvesting of vegetables, potatoes, melons and fruits and berries continues in agricultural organizations and peasant farms of the Don.
