Don agrarians continue the sowing campaign

Despite the series of May holidays and heavy rainfall, the Don agrarians, using fine days, continue field work and increase the area of ​​spring sowing.
“This year, the weather conditions have made their own adjustments to the course of field work, however, Don farmers, taking advantage of the fine days, continue the entire range of field work,” said Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, visiting the Meliorator farm in the Volgodonsk region. – To date, the total area under crops of all crops has amounted to 790 thousand hectares, which is more than 43% of the planned volumes. The sowing of early grains and legumes is already being completed, more than 90% of the plan has been sown, the sowing of late grains, industrial crops and vegetables is being activated. The past rains should have a positive effect on the vegetation of both winter and spring crops.”
So, today 654 thousand hectares have been sown with cereals and legumes. Rice sowing has recently started in the farms of the central irrigated zone.
Sowing of industrial crops today is almost 320 thousand hectares, or 30% of the plan. The "equator" was passed in laying the crop of vegetables and potatoes, more than 7 thousand hectares were sown.
In terms of sown area, the Tselinsky district holds the leadership, where spring crops have already been sown on 62 thousand hectares. The second place was taken by the farmers of the Peschanokopsky district, where more than 50 thousand hectares are occupied with crops of the future crop. The top three is closed by the Salsky district, where 46.5 thousand hectares are sown.
The Don Ministry of Agriculture and Food notes that the farms of the Rostov region are provided with seeds of grain and leguminous crops at 106%. Seeds of tilled crops are harvested in full.
Recall that the groundwork for the future harvest was made last fall, when 2.9 million hectares of winter crops were sown by Don farmers . To date, top dressing with mineral fertilizers has been completed on the entire area of ​​the winter wedge.
In addition, systematic chemical treatment of crops against weeds, diseases and pests is carried out in the region.
More than 28 thousand tractors, 16 thousand seeders, 18 thousand cultivators are involved in spring field work.
The mechanism of preferential short-term lending also contributes to the spring field work. Don farmers have already received 8.62 billion rubles of preferential short-term loans, which is 3 billion rubles more than on the same date last year.
We also recall that the farmers of the region are provided with financial resources in a timely manner in the form of subsidies from the federal and regional budgets. To date, state support for the development of the agro-industrial complex and rural areas has amounted to almost 3 billion rubles. This is 1.5 billion rubles more than in the same period in 2022.
