The share of grapes of table varieties is constantly increasing the winegrowers of Dagestan (RF)

Dagestan occupies a leading position in the Russian Federation in terms of production of table grapes. So, in the past 2020, more than 63 thousand tons of table grapes were produced.

In a number of municipal districts of the republic, some rural settlements specialize in growing table grapes, including early varieties. The total area of ​​vineyards of table varieties is about 6 thousand hectares, of which 5.2 are fruit-bearing plantations. The average yield of plantings of table varieties in the republic reaches 124 centners per hectare, which is higher than that of industrial varieties, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

Currently, table grapes are being harvested in some regions of the republic, including in the village of Krasnopartizansk, Sergokalinsky district.

An agricultural consumer service cooperative has been created here. Fifty personal subsidiary farms, some farms and agricultural organizations have united in order to successfully solve the issues of carrying out protective measures, treatments and other technological operations in the vineyards. As Ruslan Hamidov, the HEAD of the SPOK, noted, the number of business executives joining the cooperative is increasing every year. At present, the total area of ​​vineyards of the consumer cooperative is about 600 hectares, of which 400 hectares are fruit-bearing.

250 hectares are allocated for the cultivation of table grapes. Today, the villagers are harvesting grapes. The demand for early berries is high, so there are no problems with sales, the crop of "sunny berries" goes to the markets of Dagestan and other regions of RUSSIA. it should be noted that in this locality the heads of household plots are very sensitive to the choice of grape varieties. Various varieties, including collection ones, are imported from different regions of the country, they are tested for adaptability to local conditions, and then the varieties that show the best results in specific natural and climatic conditions are cultivated. In the course of many years of experiments, rich experience has been gained in this matter; today more than 25 grape varieties are cultivated here.

In recent years, there has been an increased interest in the planting of table varieties in Dagestan. If, for example, usually the share of table grape varieties was 25-30% of the total area structure, annually planted new vineyards, then in some years this share reaches 50-60%. Moreover, the natural and climatic conditions of the south of the republic make it possible to cultivate varieties of early ripening, which also plays an important role in increasing the profitability of berry production.

Today there is a question of creating the appropriate infrastructure for the agro-food market, in particular the construction of vineyards. The presence of storage facilities will create conditions for year-round provision of the population with grapes, which is beneficial for both producers and consumers of the berry.

The urgency of stepping up efforts to increase the production of table grapes and their storage capacity is explained by the large volumes of imports of fresh grapes into the country. So, last year about 320 thousand tons of fresh grapes were imported.
