Four agricultural enterprises of the Nizhny Novgorod region became the winners of the contest "The best SUGAR beet farm in RUSSIA in 2021".
Enterprises from the Sergachsky district were recognized as winners: farms of Shaipova I.T. and Osmanova Sh.Kh., Saksar LLC, Agrofirm Nizhegorodskaya.
“In 2021, the sown area under sugar beet was increased by 1.5 thousand hectares compared to 2020 and exceeded 13 thousand hectares. This year, the areas under this crop are preserved. To date, sugar beet has already been sown on 11.5 thousand hectares in the region, which is almost 90% of the plan. The cultivation of this crop is traditionally done by farmers in the southern regions of the Nizhny Novgorod region - Gaginsky, Shatkovsky, Pilninsky, Sergachsky, Sechenovsky and Spassky. In total, 18 enterprises specialize in sugar beet,” said Nikolai Denisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The competition is held by the Union of Sugar Producers of Russia and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation annually among all beet-growing farms in the country for each individual region. When determining the winners, the competition committee takes into account the area under crops, gross harvest, yield, sugar content and profitability of production.
“Sugar beet producers are provided with subsidies to reimburse part of the costs associated with the purchase of elite seeds and the purchase of agricultural machinery, there is per hectare support, which provides for the compensation of part of the costs per hectare of sown area, preferential loans are also available,” Nikolay Denisov added.
This year, about 5 billion rubles of subsidies were allocated to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, of which more than 2 billion rubles have already been distributed to agricultural producers. The funds were used to carry out spring field work; melioration; reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; to support producers of MILK and vegetables, support personnel and other areas.
