The Center for Grain Quality Evaluation praised the harvest of Don wheat

In the Rostov region, as part of a pilot project providing for 100% crop coverage, specialists from the Rostov branch of the Center for Grain Quality Assessment have already examined 9 million tons of soft wheat, which is 79% of the total grain production in the region.

Recently, the share of wheat of grades 1-4 has stabilized in the Don region at around 97%, which, in terms of gross bunker weight, gives a record 11 million tons of food grain, which already exceeds last year's maximum, when about 10 million tons of such wheat were harvested . Experts note that the high result was achieved due to an almost twofold increase in the production of soft wheat of the 3rd class to 6.6 million tons.

According to the federal center, in recent years, the Rostov region tops the list of subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of production of both food wheat in general and wheat of the 3rd class.

“This is a worthy result of the work of Don agrarians and breeders, as well as an indicative result of maintaining a scientifically based farming system, state support for elite seed production and other areas of crop production,” commented First Deputy Governor Viktor Goncharov. – Today it is important to pay attention to laying the future harvest. At the moment, the villagers have already sown 1.2 million hectares, or almost 44% of the plan, with winter crops, which traditionally form the basis of the Don grain harvest. It is important to note that almost 80% are crops with the use of fertilizers.”
