More than 4 million hectares were sown area in the Saratov region

Spring sowing in the region is completed. Taking into account the preserved winter cereals (1.2 million hectares) and perennial grasses (90 thousand hectares), the sown area this year amounted to 4.1 million hectares, - said Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of the region.
Spring sowing was carried out on an area of ​​2.8 million hectares. Planned indicators for sowing spring crops were fulfilled in 22 districts. In the Krasnokutsky district, 112% of the plan was completed, Krasnopartizansky and St. Petersburg - 108%, Ozinsky - 107%, Novoburassky, Turkovsky, Rivne - 104% each, Novouzensky and Petrovsky - 103%.
Roman Kovalsky stressed that "despite the fact that the spring sowing took place in difficult weather conditions, the farms of the region conducted it in accordance with the previously planned structure, taking into account the recommendations of scientists and fulfilled the plans."
This year, the agrarians of the region fulfilled the task of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation to increase the sown area under durum wheat, soybeans, SUGAR beets, and potatoes in the organized sector.
In addition, the area under export-oriented leguminous crops was increased, including chickpeas by 121% compared to last year, lentils by 133%, peas by 105% (13.8 thousand hectares were sown, in 2021 - 13.1 thousand hectares As the
deputy chairman said, in the structure of spring crops, 1 million hectares are occupied by grain and leguminous crops, 1.7 million hectares are occupied by technical crops, including more than 1.4 million hectares of sunflower, over 8.5 thousand hectares of sugar beet, safflower 172 thousand hectares, fodder 71 thousand hectares, gourds in farms of all categories - 5.6 thousand hectares
Under vegetable crops in the current year in farms of all categories 15.4 thousand hectares are occupied.
With vegetable farms, work was carried out to optimize the structure of sown areas. The sown areas under onions and cabbage have been increased by reducing the sown areas under pumpkins.
According to operational data, 1.88 thousand hectares (103%), cabbage 630 hectares (121%), beets 116 thousand hectares (110%), tomatoes 194 hectares, cucumbers 75 hectares, carrots 160 hectares, garlic 4 hectares, pumpkin - 4.3 thousand hectares and other vegetables (zucchini, pepper, eggplant, etc.) - 1.1 thousand hectares (97%).
8.4 thousand hectares have been planted with potatoes.
A number of farms are completing the sowing of late spring crops - buckwheat, millet, sorghum, corn, heat-loving vegetables and sunflower.
“Currently, farms individually submit information to the statistical authorities, where we expect adjustments towards an increase in sown areas,” the HEAD of the regional Ministry of Agriculture concluded.
