pionerprodukt.by continues to learn the basics of beekeeping.
Today we are at the apiary of Akhmadullin Ilsur, in the village of Starye Burunduki, Buinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Ilsur has been engaged in beekeeping since 2009, when he moved back to his homeland, and the bees flew to him by themselves!
Now there are 150 families in Ilsur's apiary.
Ilsur is engaged in package beekeeping, breeds and sells a gray mountain Caucasian breed of bees. Or as it is briefly called - Caucasian.
Gray mountain Caucasian bee (lat. Apis mellifera caucasia, often mistakenly caucasica) is a breed of honey bees. The color is pure gray with a silvery tint. It is especially distinguished from other breeds by its exceptional non-aggression and the length of the proboscis (6.7-7.25 mm). The gene pool is concentrated in Transcaucasia and the Central Caucasus.
Another big plus of the Caucasian woman is a large amount of propolis. Propolis is a resinous substance from brown to dark green in color used by bees to fill gaps, regulate the passability of the notch, disinfect the cells of combs before sowing eggs by the queen, and also isolate foreign objects in the hive. It is a sticky substance that bees collect from the spring buds of trees (poplar, alder, birch and others) and modify with their enzymes.
Bee packages are formed in the spring as layering. In the spring, layering is strengthened and part of the bees and brood are taken from them to form packages. The rest of the family is given a new queen, from which, after strengthening, you can get some more bees and brood.
The treatment of fields adjacent to the apiary with herbicides is a very painful topic for beekeepers, and here are Ilsur's tips on how to prevent the death of bees.
It is advisable to start processing the fields after 20:00, when the flight bee has already completed its work, and although the bee returns to the hive before 21:00, the bulk of the bees return earlier.
At the beginning of the fourth morning, the bee already flies to work again. Therefore, it is desirable to finish processing the fields before 2 am, so that the plants have time to absorb the preparations.
