Agrarians of the Saratov region completed the sowing of early spring crops

By May 17, spring sowing in the Saratov region was carried out on an area of ​​1,732 thousand hectares, which is 61% of the plan.
Grain crops have been sown on 845 thousand hectares (85%), sowing of early grain crops has been completed.
“From 5 to 15% compared to last year, there was an increase in areas under crops such as durum wheat, peas , lentils. The sowing of late grain crops - millet, buckwheat, corn and sorghum continues," said Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government of Agriculture, Minister of Agriculture of the region.
To date, industrial crops have been sown on an area of ​​873 thousand hectares - 50%, vegetables - 8.6 thousand hectares - 58%.
Potato planting is nearing completion in vegetable farms: work has been carried out on an area of ​​7.3 thousand hectares, which is 96%.
“Under favorable weather conditions, we plan to complete the sowing before June 1,” Roman Kovalsky specified.
